I ❤️ Da Nang Vietnam 2025 - Day 8 - Moss Coffee Shop - 07/31/2025
Day 8: Da Nang Travel Diary: Diary Moss Coffee Shop and the Quest for the Perfect Egg Coffee
Okay, so Day 8 in Da Nang started with a major win! We asked the hotel if we could switch Badet and Mader Earth's room (which was booked until tomorrow) with my bigger deluxe room (since I had to check out). And guess what? The hotel staff said YES instantly! Seriously, this hotel is amazing. Highly commendable service!
After that glorious nap after the breakfast buffet (we were still stuffed!), Badet (the ultimate foodie) was craving an authentic Vietnamese coffee to cleanse her palate. She wasn't totally sold on the egg coffee we tried on Day 3. And since we had no plans for the day, we decided chilling in the hotel room would be a waste of precious Da Nang time.
Despite the scorching heat, we braved the weather and headed to Moss Coffee Shop, a cafe she found with rave reviews.
Moss Coffee Shop: A Review
Moss Coffee Shop is a total vibe. It's got this really aesthetic, laid-back atmosphere. The menu has a great variety of drinks and snacks. Plus, the location is pretty central and easy to get to.
We booked a Grab, and after about 20 minutes, we arrived. The cafe has this cool open-air concept as you enter. The staff was super friendly and immediately offered us a seat, suggesting we check out the air-conditioned room on the 2nd floor. Since it was a weekend, there were a few other customers, but it wasn't crowded at all.
The staff was incredibly polite. We ordered upfront, and of course, Badet had to get the Egg Coffee (Ca Phe Trung). Priced at 60k VND (around ₱130 PHP), it's not just a drink – it's an experience!
The Egg Coffee Ritual
Okay, so egg coffee is basically a Vietnamese coffee with a frothy egg yolk topping. It sounds weird, but trust me, it's delicious! What's unique about Moss Coffee's egg coffee is the presentation and the ritual.
The staff showed us how to properly enjoy the coffee. First, they lit a small candle and placed the coffee on top to heat it for about two minutes. This warms up the egg yolk and intensifies the flavors. Then, you slowly sip the coffee through the warm, creamy egg topping.
The staff also brought us complimentary ice tea and kept refilling our glasses. We were the only customers in the air-conditioned room on the 2nd floor (which also had a toilet – bonus!), so we had plenty of time to relax, take pictures, and make videos.
The Verdict
The egg coffee at Moss Coffee Shop is the real deal. It's borderline a drink and a dessert. The coffee is rich and strong, perfectly balanced by the sweet and creamy egg yolk. The artistry, the ritual, the aesthetic cafe, and the super-duper polite staff make that 60k VND (₱130 PHP) price tag totally worth it. Seriously, I wanted to grab the CEO of Starbucks and introduce him to this place. Just kidding… maybe.
If you're in Da Nang and looking for an authentic and unique coffee experience, Moss Coffee Shop is a must-visit!
