I ❤️ Sapa Vietnam 2026 - Day 2 (Fansipan) - 01/02/2026
Sapa Travel Diary: Day 2 – Chasing Clouds (and Warmth!) at Fansipan
5 AM – Alarm blared way too early, but hey, we had a mountain to conquer (or at least try to)! Quick bath and packed layers upon layers – winter in Sapa is no joke! 7 AM – Fueled up at Cong Cafe – their espresso with condensed milk is pure liquid gold, and the crispy banh mi with savory fillings hit just right. If you’re in Sapa, this spot is a must-visit for morning eats! 9 AM – Headed to Fansipan, the "Roof of Indochina."
We took the monotrail to the cable car station, but the journey was already testing our patience – each stop had a 30-minute queue! Once on the cable car, we climbed higher and higher… only to be greeted by biting cold and zero visibility. The peak was completely shrouded in fog, so we had to scrap our summit plans. Pro tip: Fansipan isn’t advisable during winter season – save it for clearer months if you want that panoramic view! 12 NN – Made our way back to the cable car area to grab lunch. 12:30 PM – Claimed our buffet at Van Sam Restaurant inside the Fansipan complex.
The spread had local and international dishes – perfect for warming up and refueling after the chilly trip. 3 PM – Back at the cable car station, we snapped a few (mostly blurry, foggy) photos and caught a traditional cultural performance by local ethnic groups – a lovely highlight even with the weather woes! 3:30 PM – Hopped back on the monotrail to head down, with a quick 4 PM stopover at Hotel de Couple – the property has gorgeous mountain views when the skies are clear, so we’re keeping it in mind for next time! 4:30 PM –
Finally back to our hotel – hot shower and a quick nap were non-negotiable! 7 PM – Craving more of Cong Cafe’s magic, so we popped by for a light dinner: hot cocoa to chase away the chill and another delicious banh mi. 8 PM – Couldn’t leave the day without street food! Tried unique treats like paper noodles pizza, sweet grilled corn, and warm soya milk – all from stalls near the town square. So good! 9 PM – Back to the hotel, freshened up, and crashed hard – what a day of highs, lows, and great food!
