Day 2 - Da Nang Travel Diary: The Joy Cafe – A Hidden Gem for Coffee Lovers
Our second day in Da Nang was dedicated to finding the best coffee in town. We initially aimed for a highly-rated spot called "Rich Cafe," just a short walk from our hotel, Center Hotel. The early morning walk was peaceful, with the city gently waking up under a gloomy sky and a light drizzle. However, upon reaching Rich Cafe, we were disappointed to find it closed.
Luckily, just around the corner, we stumbled upon The Joy Cafe. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by its aesthetically pleasing interior and the vibrant display of souvenirs. The coffee was surprisingly affordable, costing only 35,000 VND (about ₱70). We ordered a cafe latte and an espresso.
One of the best things about The Joy Cafe is its multi-level setup. They have dining areas on the ground floor, second floor, and even a fifth floor with a view of the Han River! We opted for the fifth floor and took the elevator up. As soon as we stepped out, we were blown away by the stunning view and the charming decor. We were the only customers there, which meant we had the entire space to ourselves for a mini photoshoot!
After about 15 minutes, our coffee arrived. Of course, more pictures were taken "for the 'gram" before we finally took a sip. The coffee was fantastic – rich, flavorful, and exactly what we needed. We also ordered a croissant and muffins, which were equally delicious. Since they don't have service water, we bought a bottled water for 10,000 VND (₱20).
Before leaving, we asked one of the staff members to take some photos of us. They were incredibly polite and even asked us to rate their cafe on Google. We happily gave them five stars for their excellent service! After a relaxing two hours of chilling and enjoying our coffee, we took the elevator down to the second floor to check out the dining area. We discovered they also have a spa! We inquired about their services, but unfortunately, they didn't speak English, so we decided to skip it and head out.
Overall, The Joy Cafe was a fantastic find and a great way to start our second day in Da Nang. If you're looking for delicious and affordable coffee in a beautiful setting, this is the place to go!
