I ❤️ Da Nang Vietnam 2025 - Day 1 - Da Nang International Airport - 07/24/2025

Day 1 - Danang Airport : Landing in Da Nang: A Smooth Transition from Chaos to Calm

At 9 pm, our plane touched down in Da Nang, Vietnam. The landing was butter-smooth, a huge thanks to our skilled Filipino pilot! Even the disembarkation was a breeze. Buses were waiting, ready to whisk us away. Stepping onto the runway, I noticed it was surprisingly dark for an international airport, but that was a minor detail.

The bus deposited us at the entrance of Da Nang International Airport, and wow! I was instantly struck by how modern and aesthetically pleasing the airport was. The air even smelled…expensive! It was a genuinely happy experience, starting with the incredibly clean and well-stocked restrooms. They even had a generous supply of toiletries! I wanted to snap a picture, but we were already in the immigration area, where phones are a no-no. Immigration itself was quick and painless – no questions asked.

I managed a quick photo in front of the "Welcome to Da Nang" sign before we were off. First order of business: cash! The exchange rate was 1000 VND (Vietnamese Dong) to 22 PHP (Philippine Peso). My GCash Visa card worked perfectly – a huge relief! I withdrew 5 million VND from a BIDV ATM (for a small fee), and let me tell you, shouting "I'm a millionaire, baby!" felt pretty good! I looked for a fee-free ATM, but BIDV and a crowded HSBC were the only options.

Next stop: the Grab pick-up area, conveniently located near the SIM card kiosks. The staff were super helpful in getting our SIM card activated. And the plan? Amazing! 150 pesos for 7 days with 7GB of 5G data, refreshing daily! Seriously, what a steal!

From there, we grabbed a Grab car to our hotel. Booking was so easy, and the airport's organized system was a lifesaver for travelers like us who want to avoid scams and delays. Our Grab car was new and smelled clean. As we drove, we got a glimpse of Da Nang's nightlife. And while I hate to compare, I have to: Da Nang served as a stark contrast to the chaos I’m used to back home in the Philippines. It was a real wake-up call.
