I ❤️ Siquijor 2025 - Day 1 - 02/07/2025
So, you know how I talked about my whirlwind trip to Siquijor and Dumaguete last September? Yeah, that was wild. It was the start of typhoon season, and Typhoon Cristine was looming – three days out, they said. Let's just say I spent a lot of time nervously checking weather updates. This time, though, it's February 2025. Fingers crossed, no typhoons this time!
This adventure starts, as most of mine do, in the chaotic beauty of Mandaluyong. My current home, my beloved, slightly-too-noisy haven. My plan? Siquijor and Dumaguete, baby! And the first step? An Angkas ride to NAIA Terminal 3.
Now, I've heard the horror stories. Manila traffic is legendary, and airport chaos is practically a national pastime. So, no messing around. My alarm went off at 3 AM. THREE AM, people! I know, right? But trust me, it was worth it.
The Angkas ride itself was… an experience. Almost an hour weaving through the pre-dawn streets. I’m still amazed at how these guys navigate the madness. I arrived at the airport around 6 AM, feeling surprisingly calm considering the early hour. The airport was less chaotic than I expected, probably because it was still early. A smooth check-in later, and I was ready for takeoff.
This is just the beginning, of course. I'll be sharing more about my flight, my arrival in Dumaguete, and all the amazing things I saw and did in Siquijor and Dumaguete in my upcoming posts. Stay tuned for more adventures, more photos, and maybe even a few typhoon-related near-miss stories (because let's be honest, those are always fun to tell!). I’ll be covering everything from the stunning beaches and waterfalls to the local food and the friendly people I met along the way.
This first post focuses on the journey from Mandaluyong to the airport. Future posts will detail my experiences in Siquijor and Dumaguete, including specific locations, activities, and recommendations for fellow travelers. I’ll also include more personal reflections and anecdotes to give a more complete picture of my trip. Expect plenty of pictures!
I'm also planning on including practical tips for travelers, such as transportation options, accommodation suggestions, and budget estimations. I’ll try to answer any questions you might have about planning a similar trip. So, if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below! Let the adventure continue!
