I ❤️ Siquijor 2025 - Day 2- Cambugahay Falls - 02/08/2025
So, Day 2 in Siquijor started with a trip to Cambugahay Falls in Lazi. We aimed for an 8 am arrival, figuring we'd beat the worst of the crowds. Nope! The line was already forming, but thankfully it wasn't too crazy. My Siquijor buddies grabbed breakfast while I took a smoke break – my stomach wasn't up for food that early. The weather was amazing this time, a huge improvement from my last visit when it absolutely poured.
Our tour guide joined the queue, and after paying the 50-peso entrance fee, we were off! Before even seeing the falls, we had to tackle 180 steps down to the river. Going down was a breeze, but I knew that the climb back up would be a killer on our aging muscles (and it was!). After about 120 steps, BAM! The turquoise river appeared, a gorgeous sight.
Cambugahay Falls truly lived up to its reputation. It's huge, easily the biggest and most beautiful waterfall in Siquijor, they say. Three tiers of cascading water, surrounded by lush jungle – seriously magical, especially in good weather.
There are two main activities: bamboo rafting and rope swinging. Since my buddies were first-timers, we decided to do both. There are two rope swings – one 10 meters high, the other 5 meters. Time for some adrenaline!
We changed into our swimsuits, and naturally, I volunteered to be the first to try the rope swing (I'm always up for a challenge!). This was my second time, so I felt pretty confident. The feeling wasn't exactly the same as the first time, but it was still exhilarating. I did it three times – I needed to get the perfect shot for my human drone video!
After everyone had a go on the rope swing, we hopped on a bamboo raft for some photos. Then, I decided to go for the big one – the 10-meter rope swing. I told myself, YOLO! Once I was on the platform, that familiar pre-jump fear kicked in, but I'd committed, so I went for it! It was awesome (and slightly painful – I bit my lip and hit the water a bit too hard, resulting in some seriously sore muscles!). I tried again though, and the second time was much smoother.
After about an hour of soaking up the view and the falls, I decided we should move on. We paid the staff and headed back up those 120 steps – ouch! After paying our tour guide, we flagged down a trike and set off to our next destination. What an amazing start to the day!
