I ❤️ Tokyo 2025 - Day 4 - Hakone Tour - Oshino Hakkai - 03/12/2025
Okay, so picture this: I'm practically snoring on the bus when Tom drops the bomb – our next stop is Oshino Hakkai! He starts telling us this amazing story about the spring water, all about how it's melted snow from Mount Fuji (seriously!), and how drinking it adds a day to your life! Sounds crazy, right? But after the whirlwind of the past few days, I was honestly just ready for a nap. 😴
We get there, and guess what? It starts pouring rain! And of course, we're completely unprepared, no umbrellas. But you know what? The moment I started walking those little paths towards the village, all my tiredness vanished. It was seriously magical.
I mean, seriously gorgeous. Crystal-clear spring water everywhere, these adorable little watermills, charming bridges, and these traditional Japanese houses – it was like stepping into a postcard! I kept imagining how amazing it would look with Mount Fuji in the background (it was hiding that day, sadly). Now I get why it's so popular – and a World Heritage site, no less!
Okay, full disclosure: it's a little touristy. Lots of souvenir shops and, well, a whole lot of people. But hey, I didn't mind! It's good for the local economy, and the lively atmosphere was part of the fun.
We had to try the famous white strawberries (OMG, so good!), and even got some free snacks (even better!). And of course, we drank the magical pond water. It actually tasted pretty good, and I did feel a little more energized afterwards. Maybe the legend is true?! 😉
Bottom line: Oshino Hakkai is an absolute must-do. If you hate crowds, maybe skip it. But for me? It was an amazing stroll through a ridiculously pretty village. Highly recommend!
