Day 2 - Da Nang Travel Diary: A Brush with Bad Luck & Lessons Learned

Unfortunately, travel isn't always sunshine and rainbows. On our second day in Da Nang, amidst the excitement of the Dragon Bridge fire and water show, we experienced a traveler's worst nightmare: a stolen phone and wallet. In the chaos of the water spray and the crowd's frenzy, someone had managed to swipe them without us noticing.



After the show, reality hit hard. We sought help from locals, who directed us to the nearest police station, about a kilometer away through the Son Tra night market food street. Despite our distress, the walk offered a glimpse into local life, with vendors selling food and souvenirs. However, our focus remained on reporting the theft.
At the police station, we found the captain enjoying his dinner. Despite the language barrier, he was attentive and used Google Translate to communicate. After an hour of reporting the incident, we learned that such thefts are common in Da Nang, and the chances of recovering our belongings were slim. It was disheartening news.



With the police report filed, it was past 10:00 PM, and we were exhausted and shaken. Dinner was the last thing on our minds, but we knew we needed to eat. Son Tra Market was already closed, so we remembered the convenience store with the Pho and Banh Mi restaurant we'd visited earlier.
We headed there for a late and somewhat somber meal. The pho was decent, and we also ordered fried rice and spring rolls. However, we noticed the prices were significantly higher than other places we'd eaten, a stark reminder that we were in a more touristy area.



After dinner, we grabbed some snacks from the convenience store and retreated to the hotel. A shower, a quiet moment, and then sleep. It wasn't the ending we'd envisioned for our second day in Da Nang, but it was a stark reminder to stay vigilant, even in the most exciting moments. Despite the unfortunate incident, we learned a valuable lesson and resolved to make the most of the rest of our trip.

Tiki Room Adventure: A Surprisingly Fun Disney Break!   Okay, so picture this: we're buzzing from all the Disney magic, ready to tackle some rides. But hold up! The app shows hour-long waits for everything popular. We're not about that life. We need a strategic break, a Disney pit stop if you will.   That's where the Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents "Aloha E KOMO Mai!" swooped in to save the day. Only a 15-minute wait? Sold!
